Conversation following this one between the detective and Commissioner Atkins: 

Detective Driver: I want to ask you not to use the signal… to let us handle this one by ourselves.

Commissioner Atkins: Excuse me?

Detective Driver: We need to bring this freak down on our own. He took Charlie and made him into ice cubes, Commissioner, and we need to take him down without help…for Charlie’s sake if not for ours.​..

Commissioner Atkins: I agree with you… but Mister Freeze is in Gotham, which means there’s more at stake here than our pride, Detective. Besides, do you really think I could stop Batman just by not asking him to help?

Detective Driver: I don’t know… probably not. But maybe you could make him understand what it means to us to have to turn on that damn signal. All I know is, we can’t turn it on today… we can’t… You’ve got a room filling up with cops out there… knowing if they don’t get this guy by dark… then… I mean… it’s just not fair, sir.
