Even though I’ve had it for months I just haven’t been in the mood, but I was sick ALL DAY today so I thought what the hell and put it on.

Ha!  I heard about the recycled maps!  

I don’t think I know any of them quite well enough to hate them yet, but yeah, there’s just so. much. angst in the Anders/Fenris spectrum, it sort of puts me off romancing either of them.  Merrill, honestly seems hilarious and kind of amusing, but possibly a few eggs short of a basket or whatever that saying is.  I can’t shake the feeling that every time I flirt with her I’m sort of taking advantage in some way.  Isabella is awesome but kind I kind of want to run away with her and be her Pirate!BFF.  I get this feeling that if I slept with her, I’d become less important somehow.  I can’t articulate it better than that, but I guess engendering such feelings is the sign of a well-created character.  I mean, I’m flirting with everyone right now because why the hell not, so we’ll see who I end up with, but I agree that DA:O in general had better romance options.  I liked three of them right off the bat as friends or romantic interests, and Leliana had me convinced by the end of the game that she was a lot more interesting/complicated than she first appeared.  

But I get what you mean about it not being any sort of sequel.  We don’t even get to see the difference that our Warden made to Ferelden cus it’s set in a different country.  Honestly so far the biggest impact my imported save file has made is humorous comments from Isabela about that one time we had a foursome and a passing reference to Queen Anora.  Which is fine it’s just…probably not what we were all looking for in something billed as a sequel. 

It… I wish I could say it gets better with an imported save, but there are so few instances where anything I did in the last game mattered. It felt like they added some throwaway bits that referenced things here and there maybe to keep the player happy, and sometimes, it just didn’t make any sense or even seem necessary. But it was so… I won’t put all my DA2 feelings out there. I’ll let you play it without all my gamer angst and feelings haunting you. You’ll have enough of that with Fenris and Anders. 

I couldn’t romance Merrill. She made me feel dirty like I was some creepy guy luring her into an alley with kittens and candy. It just felt wrong for me personally. I don’t begrudge anyone who does, though. I haven’t romanced Isabela properly yet, but she’s a lot of fun. I started the game with two characters a mage and a rogue. My mage romanced Fenris and my rogue romanced Anders. It was… an experience.  And at first I was like you. I didn’t really feel it with either one of them, but then headcanon took over. LOL.
